The Roxymorrons is a new band formed out of the ashes of Citric Maple, which was formed by Mark Bitanga Del Rosario in the early days of 1995. This was when “Alternative” music was a hit and the radio stations just couldn’t get enough of gnarling rock stars and gnashing guitar licks. The intent: to jam all day, pretend to be Kurt Cobain and be a rock star for a day keeping the worries away. Those were the summers of Dungeons and Dragons, and comic books, and adventures with Lovecraft and Poppy Z. Brite. Then it came to a point that they were already writing songs, loving it, and getting serious enough to play in parties and gigs.

The band consists of Kiko Tuazon on drums, Pauline Laanan on Guitar and back-up vocals, Mark Bitanga Del Rosario on guitars and vocals, and Red Moyano on bass.

They’re a guitar-based band whose influences range from Nirvana to The Kaiser Chiefs to Radiohead. Their individual influences are a variety of sorts. Kiko likes heavy metal and thrash rapping in his beats. He indulges himself in the fine art of skateboarding and tinkering on computers. He works for a telecommunications company. Red likes to listen to rock (any kind), works in a bank, and still thinks that he is a session bass player (although he has been reminded so many times that he is not). Pauline works for a call center agency and is the newest addition to the band. Mark delves into punk, new wave, jazz and new age, comic books, literature, fantasy stuff and a lot of RPG. To them, music is music in all its forms, in all its aspect. There are no categories; there is no hate. It all began in a difference in opinion, a discussion between friends, and the love for music. This is where their music comes from.

Down the line, the band is about who they are and what their music is all about. They create their own identity experimenting on the different ways of having fun. The music and the performance is what matters most. They have been in the music scene for some time now and will remain there until they can’t play anymore. Again it’s all about fun, hard work and patience. They dream the dream and live the life. “The Roxymorrons is a spark of nonsense,” says Mark, “with the versatility of imaginings and daydreams, with a wisp of being a kid again and forgetting about worldly worries, at least just for a time.”
